I Couldn't Resist

Sam's school had picture day a few weeks back and I couldn't resist purchasing one. Josh thinks I am crazy, but I love the kitsch factor. That background is just too much. Bookmark and Share

Another Letter for Sam

Dearest Sammy:You recently turned two. You are such a joy in our lives. You light up every room you walk into with your warmth and your crazy expressions and that spectacular curly hair. You let us know what your needs are and you demand that they be met--the sooner, the better. You are most definitely a second child. You are talking up a storm and you walk up to us with your arms outstretched and say "hug". You get incredibly jealous when I hold Ben, because like most two year olds, the world revolves around you. You love to have an audience, and when we laugh at something you did at dinner, you look so proud of yourself. You are less cautious than your brother, but still by no means a daredevil. You love to dance and listen to music. You love to eat spaghetti, tomatoes, ice cream and cake. On your birthday, when I made chocolate cake, you walked around the house all day saying 'num', 'cake' and 'happy'. You grab our hands and say "come on". You grab the Playstation remote and you say 'game' as you walk around the house with it (even though you are not actually playing). You can finally say 'Ben'. When we still lived in California, before you were born, we saw a financial advisor for awhile. She told us we were not in a financial position to have a second child. We decided "Screw her. Poor people have children all the time." And I am so glad we did not take her advice to heart. Money is fleeting, but you my dear are priceless. I cannot imagine my life without you in it. More at Home

I realize that lately Sam has been the primary person in front of my lens and that Ben has been almost entirely absent. This is not intentional except in the fact that Ben does not want me to photograph him. I have to trick him into it and Sam is more eager, or at the very least ignores it more. But I think Ben might be coming around. Only time will tell. And speaking of time, Sammy is losing that little buddha belly that I love so very much and I am obsessed with capturing it. I don't have the perfect shot yet, but these are kind of cute. Bookmark and Share

New Toys Are Awesome

Ben got a new hot wheels track for accomplishing what we began to think was the impossible--potty training. We are so about bribery in this family. Ben and Sam were obsessed with this toy for about a week. Sam is naked because he ran directly from the tub to the toy as if he could not stand to even be parted from it for 5 minutes. They haven't played with it since of course. It is all about the new. I love the last one of Tucker looking mildly disgusted at what we find entertaining. Bookmark and Share

What Kind of Tree is That?

We have a tree in the backyard that people have been asking me about for the two years we have lived here. I have never checked, which is a very sad fact. I have never had much of a green thumb. More like a black one. But today I decided to tackle the beast. It is a pomegranate tree and they are not yummy, but they are kind of cute. And it is was an excellent opportunity to procrastinate. I am not much of a still life photographer, but I have been following in love with the food photography on two cooking blogs lately. They are Smitten Kitchen and Not Without Salt. SF Bay Area Fall Sessions | November 6-9, 2009

I had so much fun doing sessions in California last Spring that I am coming back for more. More pictures, more California (which I miss so much) as well as getting my Peet's coffee, Kirala and Acme bread fixes. So come join me for some photographic festivities. When is the best time to photograph you and your family? Everyday, but especially the weekend of November 6-9. Send me an email to book your session today. Bookmark and Share

Sam's Birthday Feast

On Sam's birthday I actually baked him a cake from (drumroll please) scratch. I know. It was truly a miracle. As a result Sam spent all day walking around the house saying "happy" and "cake". When I put the cake next to the window to take a photo of it, Sam started screaming "cake" and ran towards the utensil drawer and grabbed a fork and then ran over to the cake (photo 3). Amelia and her family came over for dinner and the last photo is of her beautiful baby. Bonnie Berry is an Austin, Texas child, family and wedding photographer.

Happy Accidents

I love happy accidents. Like when you zoom into one of your images and something cool appears on your screen. Bonnie Berry is an Austin, Texas child, family and wedding photographer.

Julia's Birthday Fete

Ben's friend Julia had a birthday party recently and the boys had such a great time. I apologize for all of the pinata hitting pics, but I loved each and every one of them. And the last one is, of course, taken as soon as the pinata broke apart. Like moths to a flame. Bonnie Berry is an Austin, Texas child, family and wedding photographer.

Another CDC Installment

I wanted to procrastinate the other day, so I took my camera back to CDC and shot for a little bit. I love watching these little ones grow. Bonnie Berry is an Austin, Texas child, family and wedding photographer.

Childhood

I took my camera to CDC the other day and took many shots of those amazing kids. Here are a couple I fell in love with. When I started doing portraiture seriously I thought about what I wanted to convey and I decided that I wanted to portray mood and emotion. I was and still am greatly inspired by Colorado photographer Cheryl Jacobs. I took a wonderful workshop from her a couple of years ago. Her work is resplendent. I still think my focus is mood and emotion, but stylistically I am doing it very differently than I had intended. I thought my voice would express itself in out of focus, soft ways, but it actually screams out in sharp, wide photographs. These images are the former (especially the first one) and although I do not think they would ever be indicative of my body of work, I love them just the same. Waterslides and Mojitos

We went to Katherine's the other night for a last minute cocktail and waterslide party. We had a great time. Ben and Sam were the last two holdouts on the slide. They never wanted to leave. There are a ton of images, but if you are a glutton for punishment there are more here. Bonnie Berry is an Austin, Texas child, family and wedding photographer.
