Family of Four | Austin Family Photographer

I met with this family on warm Texas morning. The kids were obviously hot and tired, but so sweet natured and you could feel the love they have as a family. As a family photographer I think I do not take into consideration enough that kids have moods like we all do. But as children, they have not learned to mask their moods as adults do, which is one reason I love to photograph them—they are so authentic. I pride myself on not taking happy, smiling family photos only. I always preach that kids have many more expressions than smiles and that I want to capture them all. These two made me put my money where my mouth is. I found myself getting stressed that I did not have enough 'happy' photos during the session and I had to constantly remind myself that I was there to capture them as they were at that moment and not to present my clients with a Martha Stewart-esque version of their lives. And so I am very happy with the result. Some smiles, some laughs, some pouts and some eye rubbing. It is life as we parents know it. And it is real.
