My grandmother Lelah is 95 years old today. I cannot overstate the incredibly important role she has had in my life. There is no one who has ever believed in me like she always has. I saw her every day growing up. She had a hard beginning, losing her mother very young. She was married to my grandfather for over 70 years and spent many of those early years moving around the world with my Air Force pilot grandfather and two young children. For someone who has not had the easiest life, she is the most positive person I know. She is in better shape at 95 than I am. I hope she has many happy, healthy years left. I cannot imagine my life without her. I struggled to find any photos of her. She was always the shutterbug so there are hundreds of photos of us, but none of her. Luckily I realized this and hired the fabulous Jonathan Canlas to come to San Francisco in February to take some pictures of her (the last two are his). So here are some old ones and some new ones in locations ranging from Beaumont, Texas eating watermelon to Berlin, Germany sitting on a couch in a bombed out room of their house to beautiful Crissy Field in San Francisco, California.
