Josh turned the big 4-0 a couple of weeks ago. He and I have a bad history with birthdays. For my first birthday after we started dating he gave me usb software as a present. I often totally forget his. We are a mess with gift giving and celebrations in general. So this year I decided to make a step towards changing this trend. I decided to throw him a surprise party. I started thinking about it months before the actual date. But of course when it came time I put everything off until the last minute and started to scramble. It didn't occur to me how hard it would be to organize a surprise when we are both total homebodies and have no second fridge to hide stuff in. Luckily our friends and the pizza delivery guy came to the rescue. Getting Josh out of the door in order to usher everyone else in the house was one of my biggest problems. Finally I realized the best way to hide the party from him was to hint there was something else going on. So I told him Mollie and the girls were coming over for dinner and I needed him to take the boys to the pool so I could get stuff ready. It turned out to be a fortuitous lie since Mollie sent me a text asking if I needed anything before he set out and being the nosy nellie that he is, he read it. So it all came together perfectly. When he and the boys came back to the house he was wearing his suit and no shirt. I thought about telling him he might want to put a shirt on, but that would have been suspicious. So he entered his own surprise party shirtless and tweeted the next day "You can all now check 'See Josh awkwardly shirtless' off of your bucket lists!" : ) BIG thanks to Mollie for taking many wonderful photos.
