I am sure you are all quite familiar with my friends Jason and Camille (and their kids, their house, and for that matter their cat) by now. I am writing about them today because I just had the thrill of watching their new film trailer for a documentary they made about Charles and Ray Eames entitled, "Eames: The Architect and The Painter". Five years ago they asked me to design a brochure for them that they could use for fundraising purposes. I was thrilled to do it. The Eames' are heroes in the design community and I had recently finished three years of art school and the Eames' were a constant source of conversation and study. Below is my favorite spread from the brochure I designed. At that point in time the economy was tough and about to get much, much tougher. In all honesty, I was skeptical the film would ever get made. So today, as I watched the trailer, I felt amazed and in awe of people who have a dream and make it come true. Congratulations Jason and Camille for your hard work and perseverance. Go watch the trailer now (on the NY Times site no less) and look for the Bread and Butter logo at the beginning. Guess who designed that? Yep. Me. Go like their Facebook page for screening times and information. It's a film you do not want to miss.
