My dear friend Frances is featured in this month's LMNOP, which is an online Austrailian magazine for parents and their children. And I am lucky enough to have had a photo I took of Frances and her youngest son published alongside the copy. Frances is a spectacular musician and if you have not yet heard her music you must and you can here. I had never heard of LMNOP until Frances told me about it and it is an amazing publication. Sam's class at school had a Valentine's party. When I look at these photos I get so sad about Sam leaving the school, but then I hope he will get to go back soon. I love this place and the people so much. Bonnie Berry is an Austin, Texas child and family photographer.

Mapping Life

When I was younger I always envisioned having children, but they honestly served more as accessories in my daydreams than as real people. So along that line of thinking you can imagine what a wake up call real children were. I spent years babysitting or spending time with children, but I always got to leave them behind and resume my own life. And even now that I am a mother I still feel a bit that way. As if I am waiting for someone to spell me and no one comes.The three times I have been away from my children in the last four years it has been a bit of a renewal for me. As the days to myself passed I became more and more of who I was. I began to shower more often, brush my teeth, wear nicer clothes. I came back to myself. I missed my three boys of course. It was as if I was doomed. I could either have myself or my family. I know it will not always be this way, but it is where I am right now. You really can't have it all. Starting next month Sam and Ben will be home with me much more during the week. These tough economic times are affecting all of us and we are not exempt. I am very nervous about this change. I have always been very forthright about the fact that I am not SAHM material. And here I will be: stay at home mom by day and working mom by night. Any little sense of self I have remaining is threatened into distinction. So what is all of this rambling about? I really have no idea. Just the feeling that I am on the brink of change and unsure of what it will bring.

The First Shiner

Sam did battle with our coffee table the other night and lost. So he and Josh headed for the ER at the Children's Hospital. They left about 8 at night and got home at 1 in the morning. Josh said it was not a pleasant experience, but that Sam was up and playing the whole time. So of course the last couple of days Sam has been sleeping like a sailor recovering from a bender. They ended up glueing his cut closed rather than stitches. Josh joked that we could have saved a whole lot of time and money if we just broke out the Crazy Glue. But even I am not THAT laissez-faire. I am making another trip to sunny California at the end of March and am planning on doing some photo sessions while I am there (North and South). I am offering several sessions listed below or if you want something different just contact me and I can see how I can accommodate your needs. REGULAR SESSION / $300 Session package includes: 2 hour portrait session at the location of your choice. Private online gallery of the proofs from your session. Online slideshow to share with friends and family. $75 print credit for orders placed within 2 weeks of proofs going online. Sitting fee is for up to five people. Each additional person is $25. BUY ONE GET ONE FREE / $150 per session With this plan you get half off the session fee AND the benefits of the regular session. The only catch is that you have to get a friend to book a session also. You both get 50% off the session price (so it would be $150 ach plus a $30 print credit) AND you will both also get a free 8x10. MINI PORTRAIT SESSION / $300 This is a 30 minute portrait session. It lasts exactly thirty minutes or less without exception and your gallery includes 10-12 images. The package includes the mini photoshoot and five digital 5 x 7 negatives of your choice on cd, post-processed and retouched. GROUP MINI PORTRAIT SESSIONS / $1000 These mini sessions are designed for a mom's group or a group of friends who all want to do mini sessions in one location back to back. There is a minimum of five families and the fee is $200 per family. These are 30 minute portrait sessions and the fee includes five digital 5 x 7 negatives, post-processed and retouched. Jessica and Shawn | Austin Wedding Photographer

I met Shawn and Jessica when I did their engagement session in downtown Austin. I immediately liked them and pretty much begged them to photograph their wedding. I just knew it would be fun. Jessica and I did her bridal session a few weeks ago and we had a great time. They were married on January 17th at St Martin's Church with a wonderful reception at Mercury Hall. The flowers were done by Bouquets of Austin and the catering was by Dagar's Catering. Now that the wedding is over I don't know when my next Jessica and Shawn fix will be. Offspring

A couple of months ago I took the Simon and the Hoech kids out for a photoshoot. I needed a shot for the January cover of the Austin Kids Directory which needed to be wintry in theme and kids who were older than mere babes. Emulating winter is tough in Austin on a warm day, but we tried. Liam Turns Two
