Our Turkey Day

Holidays are always tough with both of our families far away, but we have always been graciously welcomed into others' homes our past three Thanksgivings here in Austin. This year we spent it with our dear friends Katherine and James at Katherine's family's abode in Driftwood. Katherine took some great shots of us that I thought I would share here.I LOVE this one Katherine took of Sam and I: Another one by K of Ben and Josh in a post dinner food coma: I don't know what it is that I love so much about this one, but I do (again by K, as are the two after it): There were four baby cows two houses down and needless to day the boys were thrilled: Katherine and familly: Katherine and James: K took this one of Ben and it feels like an update of an image that Tara took of Ben a year and half ago. Here is Katherine's: and Tara's (from May 2008): Bookmark and Share

A Wedding at Home | Austin Wedding Photographer

Jessica and Charlie got married a few weeks ago at Charlie's family home in Hallettsville. This was my kind of wedding. It was small, warm, full of homemade details. And Charlie and Jessie's first look was so heart warming that it even melted my cynical heart. There was just so much love at this wedding. Charlie's uncles did all the meat on the barbeque and Jessie's family all helped make the details perfect. It was such a special day. There were even dogs who added an extra touch of home. Two of my favorites are the bride and groom with their respective moms. Bookmark and Share

Discovery Center Part I | Austin Child Photographer

I spent the last week of October at my boys' preschool photographing the kids. It is one of the best gigs I do all year. I have such a great time with them all. This is the first of three posts because I love so many of them. I decided to do them in order of age, so I start off today with the youngest ones. You will also notice a few costume shots here and there. The last day I shot they had the annual Halloween carnival. Nothing is cuter than a 2 year old in a costume. Bookmark and Share

The Rehearsal Dinner | Austin Destination Wedding Photographer

Kevin and Bri's rehearsal dinner was in the Signature Room on the top floor of the John Hancock Building in Chicago. What a view! It was astonshingly beautiful. Kevin gave a heart breakingly moving speech. Bri was supposed to give one too, but the normally stage fright free Bri was overcome with emotion and quit at about word three. It was a lovely evening with a sweet slideshow playing with photos of the bride and groom at all stages of life. A wonderful start to a very special weekend. Bookmark and Share

The Chicagoans | Austin Family Photographer

Monique and her family were in town for a conference and hired little old me to photograph their family. I was honored. We had such a great time. Usually I have a hard time getting good family photos. Individuals are easy, but getting everyone to look good together in the same frame can be a challenge. Not so with these guys. I loved each one of the three of them more than the last. I especially love the series of Monique kissing her precious enfant. They were all so natural in front of the camera--a photographer's dream come true.Coming up VERY soon is Bri and Kevin's wedding. I promise Bri : ) Bookmark and Share

California Here I Come

I leave early tomorrow morning for California. It is a short trip to spend some time with my grandmother and to do some family sessions. I will be back in the studio Tuesday morning. If you are a client waiting for proofs, I am trying to catch up as quickly as possible, so please be patient with me. I am running about a week behind my usual schedule. All of last week I took photographs at my boys' preschool. I love doing this. Not only is it fun, but I get to learn all of the kids' names and play with them for hours. Here are just a couple of shots from that shoot. See you next week : ) Bookmark and Share
