These were taken a couple of weeks ago at our place. I leave tomorrow morning for a little Hill Country road trip with my friend Amy who flies into Austin this afternoon. Three days of booze, bbq and no babies. To say that I will return with many photos is a huge understatement. Until then, these will have to tide you over.

Some things in life are just meant to be and this family photoshoot was one of them. Cari contacted me ages ago to photograph her family and we had one miscommunication after another befall us. Incorrect email addresses, her four year daughter cutting off her bangs, etc threatened to keep us from ever meeting. But meet we finally did and I had such a great time with this family. They are so down to earth and REAL and I just love that. And they were up for anything, including soaping up the kids so that I could photograph them in the tub, which I have wanted to do for ages. Kismet seems big with this family, whose adorable pup Jojo followed them home for several miles when they were out for a walk one day and never left.

Last weekend we had brunch at Susie and Stephen's house. Susie made homemade bagels and they were delish. She is also a fabulous web designer and we worked on a project a few months ago for the Griffin School and the site she designed is now live and I LOVE what she did.

Josh and I and the boys headed over to Central Market last weekend for some dinner and some beer with Katherine and her entourage. Poor little Finn was sick so daddy James took him home before the fun began. We also ran into little Alex from Ben's school. That's one thing I love about CM--you always run into someone you know.

One of the best times of my day is when I drop off or pick up Ben from school. There is a stretch on Old Spicewood Springs Road where I feel like I am back in California. There are horses and fields, many trees. It feels like home. So one day Sam and I had some extra time on our hands and we finally got out of the car and walked around a bit.

Catherine and I and our two little assistants headed to Hot Mama's Espresso cafe for our kid-friendly restaurant reviews. Catherine will give a detailed review and I will link to it once she has published it, but for now here are the visuals. My two cents is that they have a near perfect outdoor space for kids if they only had the entire outdoor space gated in. Alas, they only have 75% of it enclosed and of course the 25% that is open faces the street. And of course THAT is where the cool fountain is that Sam was compulsively drawn to. There was also one other way out that I would never have found since it is about a six inch gap in the wall, but as you will see in the last image, Sam did. And it goes into a parking lot next door that in order for me to reach would have meant running all the way out to the street and then backtracking into the lot. So maybe not such a great place for wee ones without a leash. Luckily I caught the back of his shirt just in time.

Little Miss Freya turned four and it was of course cause to celebrate, swim, drink and eat cake. The frozen cosmos knocked me out. Jennifer is truly one of the best hosts I know. Every time we go over there I remind Josh not to get any ideas about how things here at our house should be like they are there. Because that is just never going to happen.

The beautiful Mollie and her daughter Genevieve were the guests of honor at brunch on Saturday for a sip 'n' see at her sister Erin's house. This was my first sip 'n' see, which is basically a coming out party for the new baby. I think it is such a great idea and we had a wonderful time.

I had the honor of photographing Marc and Aimee's family a couple of weeks ago. We had such a great time and their house is amazing. I love modern architecture, so I almost spilled my coffee when I drove up to their place because I was so excited. And I could have spent all day looking at everything on their walls. They are both wonderful graphic designers as well, so check out their stuff here.

My dear friend Dave lent me his tilt shift lens, so I dragged the family out to the backyard a couple of nights ago to play with it. It is a great lens, but a little too slow going for me for shooting kids. Those little buggers will not sit still for me while I say, "Hold it. I need to focus".

I just discovered this shot taken with my point and shoot from the day before Easter when we were coloring eggs at the Simons. I love it. It is so Sam at this moment of his life and his perspective of the world as the littlest man.
