We went camping this weekend. I know. Me, camping, same sentence. Hell did indeed freeze over. More photos to come, but this one is my favorite. That was supposed to be my hamburger by the way.

Once again I stayed with my dear friends Camille and Jason in Berkeley during my last sojourn to California. I love to not only stay with them, but to also document their lives while I am there. And they are so patient with my constantly sticking the camera in their faces. As documentary filmmakers it must feel strange to them to be on the other side of the camera. Their two boys take it all in stride, as if to say "Oh look, the camera lady is back."

The morning after John and Kara's big shindig (I had them hold the fabulous party invite in the first shot, which was designed by the dynamic duo at Blase Design) we headed over to Golden Gate Park and took some family shots. Their two boys are so amazing and what a happy family they are. I was definitely feeling the love.

Ugh. It is Monday and I have a terrible ear infection, which is very painful and making it hard to get anything done. But I had not posted in awhile, so I thought I could manage to put at least one photo up. This is of the beautiful Theo in his amazing house in Berkeley, California. I will be back soon (once the antibiotics kick in) to post some more. I had two wonderful engagements sessions in the last week that I cannot wait to process and share. So stay tuned.

Josh and Ben are in New York this week visiting Josh's mom (and Josh has business there as well). So it is Sam and I on our own this week, which has been much more quiet than normal life in our house. Here are a few shots of him in front of one of two windows we have that get great light.

I was honored to photograph John and Kara's eleventh wedding anniversary party in San Francisco. It was such a beautiful event. When I arrived at their house in the Sunset district I was a little concerned because they have a typical-sized San Francisco house, which means not Texas huge. I was concerned how I would photograph 50 plus people in the house. But then they took me out back to the yard and I was stunned. Not only is it enormous (particularly by SF standards) but it was outfitted like something out of Dwell magazine or a really hip Pottery Barn catalog. From the Japanese soaking tub containing ice and many bottles of beer to the black linens on the tables, every detail was perfect. It was photography heaven. So here are some of the many photos of this very special fete. I hope they convey the warmth and love I felt that day. Thanks John and Kara for allowing me to document your special relationship, your family and your friends. And thanks to Aimee and Marc for recommending me. I got back from California on Tuesday and have had a hard time getting going again. It has been a bit of a shock to be back in the heat after the amazing Northern California weather. I don't know what it is about the Bay Area, but the fog, the breeze and the smell of the water are bewitching to me. I had a lovely visit with friends and much sushi was consumed. I of course took many pics, which I will post once I can get my energy up to process them. I was there to photograph the lovely John and Kara's anniversary party, so will have plenty of those to share soon. For now, this one of Camille and baby Zach is one of my favorites. Camille and her husband Jason were kind enough to put me up for a couple of nights. The kids always look at me like, "Oh you and your camera are back again. Okay. Can we play now?"

I had a wonderful family photoshoot with five month old twin girls recently. They are simply adorable. I have been wanting to photograph twins for ages so I was surprised that when even when dressed in the same clothing I could not help but see the girls are two very separate children. They have such distinct personalities and expressions and are both such unique beings. I fell in love with both of them.

The heat of the summer in Texas always throws me. It makes me want to do absolutely nothing, including pick up my heavy camera or sit in front of my computer in my overheated office, typing a blog entry. But I will try to persevere one day at a time. The boys seem to prefer popcorn and corn on the cob, but I think that popsicles are the answer.

These were taken a couple of weeks ago at our place. I leave tomorrow morning for a little Hill Country road trip with my friend Amy who flies into Austin this afternoon. Three days of booze, bbq and no babies. To say that I will return with many photos is a huge understatement. Until then, these will have to tide you over.

Some things in life are just meant to be and this family photoshoot was one of them. Cari contacted me ages ago to photograph her family and we had one miscommunication after another befall us. Incorrect email addresses, her four year daughter cutting off her bangs, etc threatened to keep us from ever meeting. But meet we finally did and I had such a great time with this family. They are so down to earth and REAL and I just love that. And they were up for anything, including soaping up the kids so that I could photograph them in the tub, which I have wanted to do for ages. Kismet seems big with this family, whose adorable pup Jojo followed them home for several miles when they were out for a walk one day and never left.

Last weekend we had brunch at Susie and Stephen's house. Susie made homemade bagels and they were delish. She is also a fabulous web designer and we worked on a project a few months ago for the Griffin School and the site she designed is now live and I LOVE what she did.

Josh and I and the boys headed over to Central Market last weekend for some dinner and some beer with Katherine and her entourage. Poor little Finn was sick so daddy James took him home before the fun began. We also ran into little Alex from Ben's school. That's one thing I love about CM--you always run into someone you know.

One of the best times of my day is when I drop off or pick up Ben from school. There is a stretch on Old Spicewood Springs Road where I feel like I am back in California. There are horses and fields, many trees. It feels like home. So one day Sam and I had some extra time on our hands and we finally got out of the car and walked around a bit.
